How many pillows do you have on your bed? I don't know about you, but I have about 10 different pillows in my bedroom, spare room and in closets. And in conversations with customers in our stores or online, I find it's not unusual for people to have 10-15 pillows they have accumulated over time in an attempt to find the perfect pillow. Is there one perfect pillow?
Regrettably there is not. Despite the claims on the late night infomercials, there is no one size fits all solution to finding your perfect pillow. There are several factors involved when searching for a pillow and they vary from person to person:
- Size so someone's frame - Wide or narrow shoulders? Tall or short, Chubby or Skinny?
- Side, Back or Stomach sleeper
- Firm or soft bed can be a factor
- Pressure sensitivity
- Neck, back or shoulder injuries
- Allergies
These can all be influencing factors when finding a pillow that you would term "perfect" for your individual needs. And as you can see by this list, these issues can arise, change or disappear all together, so it would not be unusual to have a need to find a new pillow more often than a new mattress. Since pillows are not as expensive as mattresses, the focus on a good pillow is not as intense commercially as a new mattress, yet it is equally important when trying to achieve proper rest.
