Brooke's Top 4 Superbloom Destinations:

Grass Mountain, Santa Ynez Valley, CA. 

Venture into the rolling hills of Santa Ynez, CA, to explore the stunning Grass Mountain. Known for its grassy green slopes and a spectacular array of tie-dyed colors during the super bloom, Grass Mountain is nestled in a picturesque valley roughly a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Los Angeles. The hike itself is considered moderate to difficult due to the uphill climb and the nearly five-mile out-and-back trail. Both the drive and the hike are well worth the effort, as they lead to a vibrant tapestry of colors that unfold across the mountain's vast expanse, offering an unforgettable visual spectacle.

Table Mountain, Oroville, CA.

Just a 90-minute drive from Sacramento, Table Mountain provides an accessible hiking experience with its flat volcanic rock terrain. Enhanced by the option to explore the enchanting Phantom Falls, this area is truly a spectacle during the superbloom season. The mountain is blanketed with dozens of varieties of wildflowers, creating a vivid, expansive vista of blooms that stretch endlessly. From the parking lot, you can venture in any direction and find yourself enveloped by natural beauty. Pack a picnic to enjoy a day under the spring sun, surrounded by the stunning floral display.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, CA.

Located just an hour and a half from Los Angeles, Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve is renowned for its golden sea of poppies that dance in the California breeze. This destination is arguably the best place to witness a poppy super bloom. Its popularity is well-earned, as the fields glow with a vibrant life that echoes the lively spirit of our bestselling colors. Antelope Valley offers a unique poppy viewing experience, with some trails weaving through the hills, creating paths flanked by vertical walls of poppy blooms. Be sure to bring sunscreen, as it can get quite warm in Lancaster. Arriving early is advisable to avoid the crowds, allowing for a more serene experience amidst the stunning floral scenery.

Anza-Borrego State Park, CA. 

Answering the call of the desert, Anza-Borrego is a three-hour drive from Los Angeles, but the journey is well worth it. Within the park, you can drive and discover areas abundant with cactus blooms, desert floor florals, and the iconic golden California poppy. This destination is ideal if you prefer to enjoy the beauty from the comfort of your car. The experience of seeing blooms in the desert is uniquely captivating, a such displays are often less predictable and can vary from year to year. Recent rains have blessed our deserts with spectacular blooms this season, making Anza-Borrego a must-visit location this year!
