Who knew a store could be political?

Since I am officially a small business owner now, I guess my voice is just a tad more visible to the politicians and a bit more influential than it was when I was just an employee. And now I am afforded this platform, I feel it is my civic duty to speak on behalf of consumers and farmers everywhere when I say that voting in FAVOR of Prop 37 would be folly.

Proposition 37 calls for labeling foods that contain genetically modified ingredients. Who stands to win if this is passed? Consumers. The same labeling laws need to end up in the mattress industry someday soon as well, forcing manufacturers of mattresses to truthfully divulge the contents of their products. 

Who stands to lose if it's passed? The same companies backing its demise, of course. Monsanto, Dow, etc. Companies who genetically engineer foods and maximize profits at the expense of our health.

Folks, please, just like with the products I carry in my store: Do your research. Read labels. Educate yourself about what you eat, what you drink and what you bring into your home. These things affect your health, positively or negatively. 

Nest Bedding will be voting in support of Prop 37.
