The First Nest of Spring

How fitting that we are born of the spring, spring of 2011 to be exact. Yet, the foundations of this "nest" were laid many years ago in our thoughts and dreams. Here at Nest Bedding, we desire to be a partner to you, not a company selling you a product. We want to empower you with knowledge and provide you with the simple, organic and sustainable elements you need to feather your nest and detoxify your bedroom and home.

With many years experience selling brands like Tempurpeic, Simmons, Sealy, Serta, Natura, etc, we have seen the old, antiquated bedding industry and what it does to consumers and the environment. Chemical laden foams and chemical fire barriers are soon to be a thing of the past. Memory foam has it's base in petroleum and chemical agents, and latex utilizes chemicals in the collection and processing, not to mention the extensive clear cutting of tropical rainforests that are happening to make room for non-native rubber trees to keep up with global latex demands. These methods and materials are a reminder of a time when we as a society were ignorant to just how toxic these elements are, to our bodies and the environment.

We have seen the changes in the food industry, and now it's time to take these lessons we have learned and apply them to our homes, to our nests.

Like the birds of the air, we at Nest encourage you to seek out items for your home that don't require harsh chemical processes to create, and materials that biodegrade at the end of their lives or have another use. Seek out sources that utilize local farmers and labor, which helps cut down on emissions and transportation. Let's all find a happy medium between convenience, comfort and our health, and let's stop trading our health and the health of our environment for convenience.
