The Mattress and the Heirloom Furniture

Oct 23, 2012

Growing up we had a gorgeous antique bed, passed down from my grandmother. It was very ornate and well-built, as most furniture was constructed very well a century ago. We loved the bed and the idea of sleeping in the same furniture our ancestors, however, mattresses 100 years ago were not the same size as today, and so a full size was too small and a queen size mattress did not fit inside the headboard and the footboard. We did know we needed a customer size mattress or that you could even buy a custom size mattress! Here are the traditional mattress sizes available in the United States...

If you measure your bed and find that one of these sizes do not work for you, you need a custom mattress. The good news is that almost every mattress in our store is available in a custom size, from RV mattresses to antique beds and custom shapes. Simply email us or give us a call and let us give you a quote on your custom memory foam or latex organic natural mattress. You can keep Grandma's heirloom bed and sleep well!
