Let's be real: There are a LOT of mattress stores and brands out there. Why would you buy a Nest over any other brand or shop at our store over any other store?
Just in the Bay Area, there Sleep Train, Mancini's, European Sleep Works, Mattress Discounters, Urban Sleep Shop, Famous Mattress, The Natural Mattress Store, Essentia....the list goes on and on. So why another store, another brand?
Most of the major stores all sell the same thing: Sealy, Serta, Simmons, Tempurpedic, Sleep Number, Sterns and Foster. Most major brands have huge markups, which is why they can run big sales and still make a profit. A typical name brand company assembles their mattresses from materials they truck in, then they sell it at a profit to the big retailers, who in turn sell it to you. They have to pay for big commissions, a warehouse, trucks, advertising...my best estimation is that for every $1000 you spend at the big retailer on a big name brand, you are getting $75-$100 in material. It's no wonder they don't last long.
There are also a lot of good mattress stores who are smaller and who sell smaller brands. Some of these are shipped from China, made with Chinese labor, placed on a ship and shipped over. Some of them are made in the USA and have good products, some of them are very expensive, some of them are just ok.

We have seen major brands claiming no toxic VOC's with no proof, and one local retailer who advertises organic mattresses but when pressed, they have to admit they do not have organic certification for the foam itself but only for the forest they collect the sap.
