In 2013, Nest Bedding launched a 100-night sleep trial on mattresses offered by the brand. This was the earlier trial period before the later move to a 365-night trial.

2014: Love Bed, Honest Mattress, and Early Latex Lines

By 2014, the Nest Bedding catalog included Love Bed, Honest Mattress, and the Quail Latex Bed. The lineup was expanding across straightforward foam, mixed-foam, latex, and natural-material designs.

This period helped establish the construction categories that later products would refine: supportive all-foam beds, latex comfort, and mattresses designed around a clearly defined feel rather than a long list of nearly identical options.

2015: Graphite Bed, iFlip, Smarthouse, and Alexander Signature

The earliest Alexander Signature launched in 2015 as an all-foam, pillow-top mattress with Firm, Medium, and Plush options. The same period included the graphite-infused Graphite Bed, the flippable iFlip concept, and Smarthouse, an exclusive collaboration with Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse.

These products show Nest Bedding testing several distinct ideas at once: specialty materials, two-sided comfort, collaboration-led design, and a more developed family of Alexander mattresses.

2016: Alexander Signature Hybrid, Love & Sleep, Hybrid Latex, and BKB

By 2016, Alexander Signature Hybrid, Hybrid Latex, Love & Sleep, and BKB / Big Kids Bed were active or emerging parts of the lineup.

The Alexander Signature Hybrid became Nest Bedding's oldest and longest-running hybrid line before later becoming Sparrow. Love & Sleep later became Quail, Hybrid Latex developed into the Owl lineage, and BKB later became Puffin Kids Bed.

2017: Active X, Contour, and Q3 Latex Bed

Active X used an all-foam design positioned for athletes and hot sleepers. Contour used specialty foam layers beneath a cool, smooth top, while Q3 consolidated several earlier latex-mattress approaches into one design.

Together, these models show Nest Bedding narrowing broader material experiments into clearer choices based on cooling, foam feel, and latex support.

2018: Organic Latex Collaborations with OMI

Nest Bedding, in collaboration with OMI (Organic Mattress Incorporated), developed certified-organic hybrid and all-latex mattresses using certified organic cotton and latex selected under OMI's material guidelines. These products later connected to the Dove and Piper names.

The collaborations ended as certified-organic material costs increased and material shortages made consistent production more difficult. Historical certification references on this page reflect the partner guidelines and certifications valid and available during the period when the mattresses were made.

2019: Zipper Covers, Layer Inserts, and Easier Comfort Exchanges

Zipper-top construction was introduced to make mattress comfort layers easier to access and replace. A customer changing firmness could exchange the relevant layer instead of replacing the entire mattress.

This reduced material waste and avoided the cost and practical headache of disposing of a complete bed for a feel adjustment. The same construction choice later became central to the Lifetime Renewal Exchange.

2020: Returning to Bird Names and Building the Nest

On September 20, 2020, Nest Bedding began formal rename planning around a return to bird- and nature-inspired mattress names. The goal was to reconnect the product family with the brand's roots and make the idea of building your nest more visible across the lineup.

Sparrow, Owl, Puffin, Finch, Lark, Dove, Piper, and Stork gave the collection a more colorful and cohesive identity while making related products easier to recognize.

In October 2021, Nest Bedding moved from a 100-night sleep trial to a 365-night trial period.

Around the same modern product era, the Lifetime Renewal Exchange formalized the benefit of replaceable comfort layers. Eligible customers could adjust or renew the feel of certain mattresses without discarding the coil unit, cover, and remaining mattress materials.

This period connected product naming, customer comfort adjustments, longer trial expectations, and a more renewable approach to mattress ownership.

2022: Bird-Name Lineup Settles In

By 2022, the bird-name family was active across Sparrow, Owl, Quail, Puffin, Finch, Lark, and Robin. Product work continued around comfort-layer formulations and exchangeable-layer construction.

The lineup was becoming easier to understand by construction: foam hybrid, latex hybrid, all-foam, kids, all-latex, natural kids, and flippable hybrid options each had a clearer place in the family.

2023: Robin Becomes Raven and Starling Reappears

On April 14, 2023, Robin became Raven in name. The 12-inch, two-sided flippable hybrid lineage continued under Raven with a softer side and a firmer side.

Starling also returned in a new all-foam form. Its reappearance connected an early bird name to a modern responsive-foam design rather than recreating the original mattress construction.

2026: Current Lineup Focus and 8-Inch Coil Update

By 2026, Nest Bedding's active mattress family is focused around Sparrow, Owl, Starling, Puffin, and Raven. Quail, Lark, and Finch are discontinued and should be treated as historical rather than active models.

The move to an 8-inch coil was prompted by manufacturing advancements from Nest Bedding's US-based manufacturing partner, Diamond Mattress. The taller pocketed-coil system provides the stronger support Nest Bedding wanted for the current Sparrow and Owl hybrid construction.

Current shoppers should compare these active mattresses by construction and feel, not assume that a historical name means the materials remained unchanged.
